I wanted to make a new desktop pic .....
And this was my experiment with photoshop. :phew:
I'm a photoshop newbie...fan art really got me to use it.

This picture was pretty much created by accidents and experiments, and finished when my patience ran out. :XD:
I get too antsy to work on new ideas that it is hard for me to stick with a single picture for too long.
I've learned a few things in the process of making this pic. :w00t: (which I hope I'll remember!)

Sesshoumaru-sama in the air is probably one of my fave pose for him, because it brings out all the wonderful arcs from his form... hair, sleeves, sheath, hakama and such.
Arcs are tricky to draw. They are dynamic and elegant in a picture when looked at, and they demand precision and subtlety when used.... Kind of like Sesshoumaru-sama to me. :XD:
Well, I'm probably seeing Sesshoumaru in everything, since I'm crazy like that and devoted to him like Jaken..... :doh:

Oh speaking of an arc, I personally prefer his Meidouzangetsuha being a crescent shape. Sharpness of it fits him well and it echoes the mark on his forhead.
If it becomes "full", it'll be just like a gigantic Kazaana in the air... I think it is not as visually pretty or interesting...but that's just me. :shrug:

stunning. :wow: it will replace my desktop image (your other sesshy) with it. i love the classic look (did you do all the backgrounds yourself?)

i love the play of gold across him and the way his face stands out against it. :clap:

i am spending so much time myself delving into bits and pieces of japanese history that the classic look of your work just speaks to me more and more loudly.

just truly awesome! thanks for doing this and sharing it with us! :worship:

I just used an array of basic functions I already knew. (copy/paste! and layers)
Gold leaf surface was sampled from an old screen. I just copied enough to make it fill the canvas size, and since gold leaf itself had "patched with multiple rectangulars" look, it was very easy to do.
Most attention was of course on Sesshoumaru-sama and clouds, which I struggled with my mouse :dohtwo:

You know, I was looking at my older drawings and noticing that I've been deviating deeper into my own idea about his character....I still look at the manga occasionally because RT's hand drawn expressions are still helpful to find foundation for his character I'd like to reinterpret, but I no longer consider anime image at all.

well, i have noticed that his face has gotten fuller, and his neck thicker in some pics. This makes him look more mature to me. Is that what you meant? I think his eyes are a bit more soulful too. :)
