A simple sketch, based on a little scene from "An Emergence 11: Lotus and Serpent". [link]

I didn't have a big plan for this drawing. I just wanted to experiment with photoshop quickly, which I still don't know that much about.

Kureha and Kuchinagimaru were brought together not by their choice, but by the clan's will. At first they connected thorough their commitment to their obligations as the leaders of their clan.
However, attraction is certainly present and growing between them, and that makes the rest of the story more entertaining for me to write, because their choices and actions will be influenced by it. :plotting:

Oh one thing, They would not be using a pillow like that in their era, but the pose didn't work out as well without it. :XD:

What program have you been using before? This is very nice. I like the scale pattern on this one - looks cool (though I like the old one too!) You found a cool reference! Kureha looks a little different (besides her hair) but I can't put my finger on it. Did you draw it right into PS?

I didn't draw right into PS. It's the basic "drawing on a sheet of paper then scan" metnod. I've been using photoshop elements 4, ever since getting my tablet (since it was in the package.) This one was made with it as well, but I tried different effect on it.
I've tried corel painter a few times, but still not be able to use it successfully. :(

The only other program I've looked at for art is Adobe Illustrator, but I don't get how to use it. :( I've used PS elements for photo manip s and editing but still didn't like it as much as regular photoshop.

I switched from regular Photoshop to Photoshop Elements. Though my photoshop is the version 4, which is an ancient version that doesn't even run on my current mac os. I only use pretty basic functions for my pictures, which are available on elements just as well. But I would love to have the latest photoshop someday.
