This story is set in "pre-Inuyasha storyline" universe.
It is a tale of Sesshoumaru's youth, leading up to his father's death.
This is an Inuyasha fanfiction without Inuyasha or Kagome, or most of the Inuyasha gang (for a good reason.)
It is centered around Sesshoumaru and the youkai world.
In this story, I avoided things I wasn't so crazy about in cannon Inuyasha and Inuyasha fanfics I have read. I wanted to focus on developing a plausible past story for Sesshoumaru.
This is really for me to satisfy my own vision, to establish "Sesshoumaru" how I perceive him, along with images of him I have been creating. So please take it for what it is.


Warning: I wanted to see Sesshoumaru with someone who is more mature, and from his class. (which none of the cannon characters are) So, that is what I gave him.
If you can't accept that, please stay away.
However, this is definitely NOT a cozy love story with happy ending. I'm interested in plot and character development, I mean in every characters, not just the protagonist.
This story is NOT for those who look for a predictable love story, or a story in which "good" and "bad" are so obvious.


Warning: If you only know anime Inuyasha, there may be concepts referred in the story you may be missing.
If you are not familiar with Japanese culture (of past era, not contemporary one) at all, you may also find it difficult to understand some concepts and formality used in the story.

I am writing this with "mature" audience in mind. I don't mean by mature for the sexual content (which is very subtle anyway) I mean "mature" in a way that it involves more adult behavior, and characters will act more like people in the noble class, not like middle class human teenagers from 21st century.

This is a story centered around Sesshoumaru and his relationships (with his parents and his love interest). Therefore, it will not tell stories about Inuyasha or Izayoi, and it is intentional. (Sorry, but they get enough attention elsewhere... )
I've always thought Sesshoumaru looked like he was slumming in the cannon Inuyasha. He deserves a better world, with prettier people with class and elegant environment, and attention on him, not his brother.

I also wanted the story to have the feel of a classical Japanese tale. Though there's a serious limitation in English text to convey that grace and subtlety, but I try, with a help of my wonderful beta. This is a good practice in English language, which is not my native language.


The story uses the narrative in Inuyasha movie 3 that Inupop dies shortly after his battle with Ryukotsusei.
I adopted and changed some elements from cannon to fit my vision of this story.
The style of writing is inspired by classic court tales.


So, please enjoy if you like something different, yet respectful of Japanese mythical world.


Inuyasha Fanfiction without Inuyasha characters I don't care about. (LOL)
Characters: Sesshoumaru, (Older than how he was presented in the IY movie 3, for the story's purpose) Inu no Taishou, Sesshoumaru's mother (I gave her a name Shirakume 白狗女 to use in this story from Chapter 5 on) and Ryukotsusei (the rest original characters)
Two chapters with brief, subtle lime scenes.
They will be flagged as mature content.
The rest is PG13.
